BEYOND KNOWING – NEW EXISTS (1/2) [Text]
A few days ago, as I was walking by one of the waterfalls on the island, I suddenly noticed something very peculiar: a group of trees that were growing roots directly from their treetops.
I was amazed and amused to see this “out of order” expression, wondering how many of us allow ourselves to experiment our life and being in such freedom and how many of us are so attached to conventions, primarily about ourselves, as well as about life and how we should be living.
I do not find many of us living this way. At the same time, I am sure that quite a few people have an inner wish for something new to happen, for renovation, for freshness, for a new life force. Yet, as strong as this wish may be, it is accompanied by fear which moves us forward while repeating over whatever already exists.
Making the stationary flexible
Sometimes it seems that in the interplay between stability, renewal and freedom, stability is magnified until it turns into stagnation.
It feels like daily life is functioning as an echo to a stiff structure. The significance of notions such as certainty, knowing and with it controlling has increased, maintaining the delusion that it is safe and secure to run our social and personal lives by them.
The importance of order and a stable structure is obvious for the existence in our current reality, crowded with people, languages, traditions etc. Yet, with time, this need has become a necessity and even a dependency.
Knowing, focusing, efficiency and being goal-oriented have become such elevated values in our time and age, where results and success are so highly appreciated. But the strength and stability they offer also made them lose their meaning, and their essence gradually depleted. Those attributes are now as a motivating whiplash for some and a source of frustration for others.
Furthermore, it seems that once things condense and consolidate, it must be challenging to shift them, for it surely requires much energy and forces to be able to make this transformation from stagnation into vitality.
The same goes for the softer version, considering a personal thought, idea or image. These “light” vibrations can easily become fixed conventions lacking any flexibility.
But in fact, there are forces of change within us, existing in nature; they are the vitality boost that comes with spring, the forces of the sprout rising from the earth, the butterfly emerging from its cocoon, the child learning to walk. These forces are available and accessible to reach once we are ready to release and allow our nature to lead us.
Release what? The known, the familiar, the expected, the obvious!
AHHH! Terrifying!… Immediately, to the sound of “release” (you can already hear the sirens…), the mind starts running a life questioning marathon, concerning who we are, our place in life, how we can survive, where is it SAFE. The absence of answers to such questions presents extreme fear, leaving us to run the race of life, literally.
Our nature indicates that there’s room for asking questions, casting doubt, living peacefully with confusion and comfortably with the lack of knowing. Clearly it is not all there is and must not necessarily be our chronic mode, yet, no doubt, it has a significant place in the waves of creation and existence.
Organic structures that experience renewal, spring and bloom, flexible structures, as the nature of life, all welcome doubts, questions and mysteries.
The roots of a tree that grows in nature are in continuous motion, tracking down suitable places rich with minerals and stabilizing the whole tree, so it can swing freely even in strong winds. The same goes for the branches, which shape the tree as they spread, following light and air sources. Our DNA patterns are also flexible and renewable templates as they crossbreed and exchange frequencies and information between cosmic energies and the depths of planet earth. It is only obvious and inevitable that it will be the same for our mental, emotional and spiritual systems.
